<br />
Joey was more excited than usual to make one for Valentine's day, mostly because it involved pink, hearts, and <strike>devil's sparkle</strike> glitter.<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJRjV7H4mBo/VAsHoSHxWMI/AAAAAAAAP2Y/wtOQHzQUHpY/s1600/IMG_7598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJRjV7H4mBo/VAsHoSHxWMI/AAAAAAAAP2Y/wtOQHzQUHpY/s1600/IMG_7598.JPG" height="640" width="425" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She's 12 and in 7th grade, but more importantly this girl knows her way around the kitchen. So it's only naturally that her and I are teaming up to share some of her culinary creations...<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The best part, she cooks the delicious<br />
I eat the delicious<br />
and then her mom cleans up the dishes from the delicious.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Two outta three isn't bad for what I consider to be a win in my books.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And now that school has started back full swing Addie's first Goodnyou? Recipe is perfect for a quick, easy, one pot pasta dish. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Perfect trifecta of sorts, if you ask me.<br />
And wicked good too. </div>
<div>

<br />
This particular one was thrown together on a hot, humid day, when I needed something cool and refreshing to offer our guest.<br />
<br />
Since then, it has gone from being served as a dip with Pita chips at a party, to eaten in a sun-dried tomato wrap with chicken for lunch, to being brought as a side salad at BBQ's.<br />
<br />
Either way, I'm eating it in abundance.<br />

<br />
We needed groceries and the produce I did have, needed to be used in a hurry.<br />
<br />
This recipe started as a chuck all, but has ended up being a sought after go to.<br />
<br />
The simplicity of this recipes is ridiculous, the deliciousness of this recipe is extreme, and to bring it all the goodness to a full trifecta…… it's fool proof!<br />
<br />
and healthy…<br />
<br />
wait, what would that make it then? a quart-fecta? <br />

Uncover and cook additional 5-10 minutes<br />
<br />
That's it…. seriously… now make it and….<br />
<br />
Enjoy!Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13630438614501785589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710442155994768048.post-79831581367202299592014-03-24T05:27:00.001-07:002014-03-24T05:28:13.911-07:00Honey Sugar Face Mask<div>
I <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">have never been a girly girl.... Until I had a girl... Who is totally a girly girl kinda girl.... Now that I get to do girly girl stuff with my very own girly girl....that makes me want to scream with excitement.... just like a .... well ....girl. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This morning we took on the task of a DIY facial mask and though it was just us girls this time, don't let those boys fools you, they like to be pampered just as much. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gZS-XpWMZCE/UzAkoCdWyHI/AAAAAAAAPZU/wVhp30MFk78/s640/blogger-image-1955146995.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gZS-XpWMZCE/UzAkoCdWyHI/AAAAAAAAPZU/wVhp30MFk78/s640/blogger-image-1955146995.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
Mix together </div>
<div>
-2 Tablespoons baking soda {<i>exfoliates finer pore}</i></div>
<div>
-1 Tablespoon sugar<i> {exfoliates dead facial skin... Sounds gross, but it's there}</i></div>
<div>
-1 Tablespoon honey <i>{opens pores for exfoliation, full of antioxidant to slow aging, is an antibacterial to fight acne and prevent it, pumps up that 'glow' and evens skin tone}</i> </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Mix until everything is incorporated into a paste, you may have to add a bit more honey than the original tablespoon to get all the baking soda worked in.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Honey Scrub covers one Mumma face and one Beanie face. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Generously apply to face, avoiding eyes</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While you give your skin the opportunity to soak up all the honey goodness <i>{10 minutes minimum, but the longer the better}</i> you can chase un-expecting member of your family around the house, answer the door to a youth group bottle drive, or take ridiculous pictures of yourself and send them to your friends. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When ready to remove.</div>
<div>
Wet hands and gently scrub, in circular motions, mask off your face. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Voila! </div>

They are easy.<br />
They are easily consumed by the pan full.<br />
<br />
And I'm pretty sure the more I eat, the more luck of the Irish I'll have…<br />

Pizza is one of them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I imagine my kids, as adults, telling their own kids about Friday night pizza nights and whatever happy memories we've created along the way to go with them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also imagine them complaining about how <i>"Mom would never keep the recipe the same! never the same dough. never the same sauce. she'd make one that was great one week and then change it completely the next."</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have weird hopes attached to the list of complaints for my kid's therapist too.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But I'm getting of topic here…</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pizza dough, yes.. </div>
<div>
It's so versatile. </div>
<div>
Use beer, instead of water.</div>
<div>
Add in pesto.</div>
<div>
Throw some sun dried tomatoes paste into the mix.</div>
<div>
Doesn't adding parmesan sound like a no brainer?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm getting ahead of myself here, lets just start with the basics and go from there.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h5udFvkllos/Ux256x40D5I/AAAAAAAAPYM/6w-AheGT80k/s1600/Pizza+dough.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h5udFvkllos/Ux256x40D5I/AAAAAAAAPYM/6w-AheGT80k/s1600/Pizza+dough.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div>
<u>Pizza Dough</u></div>
<div>
<u><br /></u></div>
<div>
In bowl or mixer add</div>
<div>
<i>-1 Cup of hot water</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Mix in water</div>
<div>
<i>-2 Tbs Honey</i></div>
<div>
<i>-1/2 tsp salt</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When honey and salt are dissolved add</div>
<div>
<i>-1 Tbs dry active yeast</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Let set in bowl for 5 minutes or until yeast is happy and bubbly</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Add</div>
<div>
<i>-1/4 cup of oil to yeast water</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Mix in </div>
<div>
<i>-2.5 cups of flour </i>{I use a half/half white/wheat combination} </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At this point add flour gradually until dough is a formed ball and not sticky to the touch. </div>
<div>
<i>-1/4 cup flour at a time</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Cover with saran wrap and let set for 40 minutes or until doubled in size.</div>
<div>
<i>{sometimes I preheat the oven to 200*, turn it off, and set bowl in there for 20 minutes to speed to process}</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Punch down.</div>
<div>
Half.</div>
<div>
Spread on greased pan.</div>
<div>
Makes enough for 2 pizza pan rounds.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Enjoy!</div>

I can explain…<br />
<br />
Firstly, some recipes have pepper jack {<i>or some other</i>} cheese melted into it's broth, supporting the color assigned title, I don't see the necessity of it…. cheese base broth, isn't really chili now is it….<br />
<br />
Secondly, what kind of "<i>chili</i>" doesn't have "<i>chili powder</i>" in it?<br />
No chili I'm willing to attack my name to, I'll tell you that.<br />
<br />
So with the darkness of the chili powder and the lightness of the base, it's pretty self explanatory for there.<br />
<br />
Perhaps I could have taken the liberty to name it, "Slightly Off White, Not Quite Tan, With A Hue of Red, Chicken Chili", but I feel like that just doesn't roll of the tongue as well.<br />
<br />

<br />
Then I started to throwing chores at them.<br />
<br />
game.changer.<br />
<br />
And because I'm not always quick on my feet to think of what chores need to be done, the Cup O'Chores was created.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1182.photobucket.com/user/srichardson236/media/DIY%20Photos/ChoreJar_zps575cab1b.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo ChoreJar_zps575cab1b.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/srichardson236/DIY%20Photos/ChoreJar_zps575cab1b.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
It's part of our every day now and helps immensely with my sanity level when emotions are elevated around here.<br />
<br />
Every morning, I pick three for the kids to accomplish throughout the day, right it on the "Chore Board" then I have them "pick a stick" when I feel it's necessary.<br />
<br />
Though I reference it as "chores" I keep some non-tradition things in there as well. I feel like the kids don't always need the discipline of work, but a simple redirection and shift in their energy.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Make your own!</b></u><br />
-Bag of large craft sticks<br />
-Pint mason jar<br />
-Painters pen <i>{don't use a sharpie, the letters end up bleeding across the wood of the sticks}</i><br />
<br />
<u><b>What's in our Cup O'Chores?</b></u><br />
-Pick up 5 toys in each sibling's room<br />
-Put dishes away<br />
-Vacuum floors<br />
-Practice instrument for 15 minutes<br />
-Ask Mumma! <i>{x2}</i><br />
-Shovel snow<br />
-Match socks<br />
-Feed/water dogs<br />
-Clean your room<br />
-10 made foul shots<br />
-Slop pigs<br />
-Water garden<br />
-Pick up 10 toy in toy room<br />
-Worksheet<br />
-Chicken coop<br />
-10 push-ups <i>{Kids love this one}</i><br />
-20 minutes quiet time in room<br />
-Free pass. Smarten up! <i>{x3}</i><br />
-Load laundry<br />
-Teach dogs a new trick<br />
<br />
Of course, I'm always adding to the jar and some are seasonal.<br />
<br />
We've established <i>"rules"</i> to picking as well… If you pick a chore that's already been done, you pick another…. if that one has already been done or isn't possible at that time <i>{example: shovel snow picked in the summer}</i> luck is in your favor and you're off the hook.<br />
<br />
Same goes for if the kids pick a chore that doesn't apply to them <i>{example: Calvin picking the "Practice instrument"}</i> they get another grab and hope for the best!Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13630438614501785589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710442155994768048.post-4263192139874602082014-01-16T13:53:00.002-08:002014-01-16T13:53:44.564-08:00Quick Read-to-bake BananasThis little tip, totally belongs to my friend Jess. She sent me a text with the descriptive words "mind blowing" attached and I have to agree, she's spot on.<br />
<br />
Every time I buy a bunch of banana's… the kids always eat all but two…. then I wait, wait, wait, for these banana's to turn bake ready, drawing fruit flies all the while… once they are "perfect", I do one of two things…. use them… or throw them in the freezer to save, until I have enough banana's for whatever recipe I intend to use them for.<br />
<br />
Then Jess, messaged me…. in turn, blowing my mind….<br />
<br />
I feel like I'm so in love, I could scream it from the roof top… but because my only neighbor Bob is already desensitized to the ridiculous things I yell outside, I don't feel it will have been done the justice it deserves… nor do I get that "baker" vibe from Bob…<br />
<br />
So instead, I will "scream" it from here…<br />
<br />

Now listen, this not only makes them soft and smooth for baking purposes, but completely sweetens them in an amazing and natural way… I've cut the honey/sugar amount in most recipes because of it.</div>

And in your case, worth giving it a go, too. </div>

<div>
Mix together</div>
<div>
1/2 cup coconut oil</div>
<div>
1/4 cup honey <i>{I use dark honey, so you may need to increase the amount to 1/2 cup, if your honey is light, for more sweetness}</i></div>
<div>
2 large eggs</div>
<div>
3 overripe bananas</div>
<div>
1/4 cup milk</div>
<div>
1 tsp vanilla</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Add</div>
<div>
2 cups flour </div>
<div>

<br />
I love them because they are so easy and delicious… Nate loves them because they "man friendly" …<br />
<br />
My first problem with them, is that they are double the protein, therefor you are able to pile in twice as many, before realizing you would have been sufficiently happier with a fourth of the amount consumed.<br />
<br />
My second problem with them, is that for as easy as they are to make, I never think to make them…<br />
<br />
Now that they are blog official, I hope they become one of my top 'go-to's… which I'm pretty sure they will…<br />
<a href="http://s1182.photobucket.com/user/srichardson236/media/LilSmokiesampBacon_zpsc6097054.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo LilSmokiesampBacon_zpsc6097054.jpg" border="0" height="320" src="http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/srichardson236/LilSmokiesampBacon_zpsc6097054.jpg" width="320" /></a>

<div style="text-align: left;">
1 package of bacon <i>{maple bacon is good too, just cut the brown sugar, if use it at all!}</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 handful of brown sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Toothpicks</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Preheat over to 400*</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cut bacon into thirds.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Wrap one lil' Smokie with 1/3 of bacon strip.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Skewer with toothpick.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Place in 9x13 pan.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Repeat until all Smokies are bacon wrapped. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sprinkle brown sugar on top of Smokies.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cook at 400* for 10 minutes, toss, cook for 5-10 minutes more <i>{keep an eye on them after the first 10 minutes, sugar will burn if forgotten about…. and smoke up the house… not to mention the ridiculous stickiness to the pan that's almost impossible to clean… so I've heard}</i></div>

Although this pictures has been used by many others and claimed as their own, it is not… but can't blame them for wanted to coat tail ride such an impressive image captured of something so great… and simple… did I mention delicious ….<br />
<br />
So here I am…. sharing it again, giving it DIY details, and stamping the Goodnyou? name on it and claiming the photo as mine, mine, mine…<br />

As for this idea, it's yours to give, give, give….<br />

<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You could also call this French Dressing Dip, but it's my dad's favorite and now my kid's dad's favorite, it's rightfully earned the name Dad's Dip, so we are only honoring it as that. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's easy, simple, and more than likely one you'll have every ingredient on hand for. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Plus, there aren't many dips like this, so the chances of showing up to a party with it, finding out someone has already supplied one to be gorged on, inevitably turning the party into an intense and somewhat awkward dip competition, aren't likely. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What? No one turned duplicate party dips into a contest of who made it better? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Noted. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With the on coming gathering season, I highly recommend this becoming one of your go to's.</div>

If I were to list my top 5 'go-to' comfort foods, they would take up at least 3.7 of the slots.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Only real butter will do and there should be as many onions as potatoes.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Cooking time should be gaged by how sore your arms are from scrapping the bottom of the pan, then they should cook, no less, than 10 minutes longer. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unfortunately, my pallet is not the only one that needs to be catered to, within these four walls. So from my attempt in still getting what I want, but making it look like something <i>new</i> and <i>exciting,</i> has steamed what fills up the other 1.3 of my comfort food indulgences. </div>

<br />
This dish couldn't be more simple. It couldn't be more delicious. It couldn't be more impressive.<br />
<br />
It's one of those foods, that even if you don't know your way around the kitchen, it give the impression that you do…. and if you do know your way around the kitchen, the possibilities are endless from this as your starting point… I'm talking greek olives, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, cappers, roasted pepper spread… I'll let your imagination take over from here...<br />
<br />

<br />
I'm not much of a baker, but somehow was able to pull this muffin recipe out of my sleeve one morning.<br />
<br />
The kids wanted muffins and we were limited in the grocery department, the odds were stacked against me.<br />
<br />
Finding any combined recipe {<i>let alone one that taste good</i>} that is across the board approved by all three of my chicks is a feat in itself.<br />
<br />
Consider this muffin mountain's top flag staked.<br />

<br />
<a name='more'></a>1 1/2 cup flour <i>{I use 50/50 white/wheat mix}</i><br />
1/2 cup honey <i>{or sugar}</i><br />
1 tsp salt<br />
1/2 tsp baking soda<br />
1/4 tsp baking powder<br />
1 egg<br />
3 over ripe bananas<br />
2 - 5.3 oz- Greek yogurt <i>{I used orange dannon oikos}</i><br />
1/2 cup chocolate chips <i>{kid approved}</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Pre-heat over to 350*<br />
<br />
Mix dry ingredients. Add in wet. Combined well. Mix in chocolate chips. Cup into oil sprayed muffin pan <i>{because there is no oil in the recipe, muffins will stick to paper if not sprayed}. </i><br />
<br />
Cook 15-20 minutes<br />
Makes 12 muffins<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />

I love me a reason to dip before devour.<br />
<br />
One of my all time "go-to"s for whipping up a dip, is this Creamy Salsa Recipe… The ingredient are alway on hand and it takes as much time to throw together as it does for your guest to grab a beer and settle in.<br />
<br />
It's a crowd pleaser, back pocket keeper, and sets the bar a bit higher than your typical salsa/chip offering.<br />

<br />
Recently, I was informed that it's also called "<i>Shrimp Pea Wiggle</i>", which confused me and caused for a great descriptive discussion between my friend and I.<br />
<br />
I had once had said "<i>Shrimp Pea Wiggle</i>" and it was presented in a tomato based form and in my opinion, hard to choke down.<br />
<br />
This, is not hard to choke down.<br />

<a name='more'></a><br />
You'll need….<br />
<br />
2 Tbs butter<br />
1-2 Tbs flour<br />
1 Can peas {<i>half heartedly drain the peas, saving some of its juice</i>}<br />
1 sm can shrimp <i>{you can use cooked fresh shrimp as well, but this is one instance I prefer the canned}</i><br />
1/2-3/4 cup milk<br />
Saltines<br />
<br />
Start by making a rue <i>{or is it rux?… this is up for discussion}</i> in the bottom of a small sauce pan, by adding the butter to melt and then whisking in enough flouring until the butter is all absorbed and clumpy.<br />
<br />
Slowly whisk milk into rue, until it's creamy, but not too thick.<br />
<br />
Add peas with remaining juice and stir.<br />
<br />
Add drained can of shrimp<br />
<br />
Salt and pepper to taste<br />
<br />
Top saltines or toasted english muffin with Shrimp & Pea deliciousness.<br />
